Managing director

Mark Szeller

Mark has over 25 years’ experience within the Well services / Intervention sector of the O&G industry starting out his career with Halliburton Coiled Tubing.

After 13 years Mark moved into Thru Tubing joining Welltonic UK in 2007 as a Thru Tubing Field Supervisor. In 2010 Mark moved from an offshore role to pursue a land-based position as Thru Tubing Operations Engineer following which he was promoted to Operations Manager at Welltonic. In 2013 Mark joined Weatherford international as Europe & Caspian Region Product Line Manager for Thru Tubing before joining the Global Management team for Weatherford Well Services in 2017.

In June 2020 Mark was appointed Managing Director of WellEnTech where he will be based in our Headquarters in Dubai.

Engineering manager

Tony LaPlante

Tony has worked in Engineering & Tool Design for 30+ years. After his Engineering apprenticeship, he joined Baker Oil Tools covering completion design / testing.

A move to Petroleum Engineering Services allowed him to develop Intervention Tools & Equipment. In 1998 he joined Smith Red Baron to develop/support Thru-Tubing tools. Over the next 8 years he developed Drilling, Casing Exit, Multilateral, & Fishing Tools. He moved to Welltonic in 2006 to establish and manage an Engineering & Design Department with 24/7 engineering support.

Following the Welltonic acquisition, he became Engineering Manager at Hunting’s Well Intervention Group, gaining experience in Pressure Control Equipment, Mechanical Plant and Skids. In 2013, he became a partner in WellEnTech. Tony has several granted patents and an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Workshop manager

Stuart Ion

Stuart started his career in the Oil Industry as Workshop Technician with Welltonic in 2006. He was responsible for the maintenance of Welltonic’s rental fleet, assembling & testing all tools/equipment sold by the company.

Hunting Energy Services bought Welltonic in 2009, he was promoted to Supervisor for the Thru-Tubing Department and supported Hunting’s activity globally. In 2014, he accepted the Workshop Manager position for the Downhole Tool department at WellEnTech. He was responsible for establishing the department and co-ordinating all aspects of Downhole Tool sales for the company.

He has been actively involved in the development/testing of new tools and is committed to the continued expansion of the WellEnTech tool portfolio.

Production manager

Saju Nair

Saju has worked in Energy Sector Manufacturing for 20+ years. In 1997 he served his 3 year apprenticeship with HMT Ltd, manufacturing/assembling CNC machines, before moving to the Baker Oil Tools Production department.

At BOT he gained vital experience in manufacturing a variety of Oilfield tools/components. He then accepted a position in 2005 with NOV ASEP ELMAR in Dubai. This gave further exposure to CNC manufacturing techniques within NOV’s Production Dpt and expanded his knowledge in manufacturing processes / materials / coatings. He moved to Raycom Engineering Systems FZE in 2009 to lead a CNC machine shop managing 2 shifts of CNC operators, programmers and QHSE controllers.

He left Raycom in 2013 to become a founder member of WellEnTech in the role Machine Shop and Production Manager.
